UCBAA Annual Magazine

It has been suggested that we create an annual magazine to act as a year end report for the UC Alumni Band. This would replace the 2-3 Leaky Bugles that we currently create and send out each year. This would be sent out only to the current membership.

Ideally the magazine would be color glossy top quality, but the cost would have to be evaluated. LeAnne is looking into this.

Topics:
Reports from all the major committees/projects of the year.
Letter from Director of Bands.
Report on Community Band.
Letter from Alumni Association/Foundation.
List of donors.
Major articles on band history.
Report from sideline crews.
UC Band year in review to fully document the yearly happenings of the UC Bands. Could be collaborated with undergraduate band.
Last years award winners from Band Banquet.
Alumni status updates (who got married, who had babies, who's moved back to town)

Leaky Bugle Future

So the idea has come up to change the future of the Leaky Bugle. Instead of mailing out 2-3 issues each year we can send out an email version with updates of events and news items that affect the UC Band and the alumni similar to what the UC Alumni Association does with the UCAA Update and the foundation does with points of pride.

Pros:
This would save us money in terms of printing and mailing a newsletter.
Faster communication with our alumni.
Information is more up to date.
Less work for secretary

Cons:
Not all alumni have access to email.
Someone would still have to compose a professional looking email to send out to the alumni.
